Did you know that puppies go through critical developmental phases? Did you know that not all puppies need the same experiences to best suit their development? Research shows that puppies are most impressionable during their first 5 months of life.
This time period is called the “Optimal Socialization” period. However, the term socialization insinuates the wrong idea to most people. When most people hear “socialization” they think their dog must meet every dog they come across and go to dog parks. This can be incredibly dangerous and counterproductive. A dog owners job at this time is to guide their puppy through life in a safe manner and teach them how to feel emotionally well and comfortable in all situations
During this time period you must provide your dog with the right amount of exposure to as many different types of people, dogs, surfaces, sounds and common situations as possible. Puppies need to be taught how to be comfortable with being handled, going to new places, being crated etc. This time period also coincides with potty training, teething and puppy play biting.

Getting a new puppy is a very exciting time, it can also be a very confusing time. Puppies, as adorable as they can be, come to us knowing absolutely nothing about how to live harmoniously in our human world. Problem behaviors such as jumping, barking, play biting, potty training, chewing, whining, barking etc. can be very frustrating to deal with and can negatively affect your relationship with your dog.
Make no mistake about it you aren’t just training your puppy you are RAISING your puppy. We go deep into how to live harmoniously with your puppy by establishing proper household management, rules and creating an optimal relationship between you and your dog with the right balance of trust, safety, respect and fun.
We frequently train in public settings with puppies to ensure they have enough early experience and exposure in their developmental stages to help them become the most sound and composed adults they can possibly be. They’re only puppies once, make sure you get it right from the start!
